Ted Nugent has the cure for Detroit:
“Huge swaths of the abandoned dead city should literally be given to private industry for them to build new industries. These industries that build there should be promised, in writing, that their taxes will be the lowest of any city in America. Because Detroit is broke and bankrupt, industries that take the offer would be responsible for paying for their own police, fire, schools for the children of their employees and other services typically reserved for government employees … only industry can potentially save Detroit from doom.”

A WhiteManistan Republican, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, tried to badmouth the website implementation of Obamacare on MSNBC.
“Rep. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., who opposes Obamacare, was particularly vocal on MSNBC about the issues he saw with the new system,” reads Politifact today. “He said lawmakers now realize some of the downfalls of the system, including technical concerns.”
Cotton: “They realize that the websites aren’t ready, that there’s no privacy protections, that there’s likely to be data breaches.”
Politifact got in touch with yours truly and I had a significant hand in explaining that no such claims could be made.
On-line data protection on with secure sites is a complicated business. Further, Obamacare access is not even centralized through one site, which Cotton addressed, healthcare.gov.
Depending on where you live you can be directed offsite to another secure page that is maintained by a state (as with California), not the US government. In other words, the Obamacare system has many partners and portals. It is distributed across the nation.
Politifact didn’t use this quote, they opted for another about secure practices, but it summarizes the matter:
“There is a complexity to the matter that in no way lends itself to a blanket assertion about risk delivered by a politician.”
Unsurprisingly, someone like Cotton would literally have no idea. Politifact dubbed his statements false.

Big media mainstreamed Ted Nugent. And he’s only a symptom. So if the government defaults in two weeks and remains closed, a good many, not just in the GOP, brought it on by making rabid old paranoid white lunatics a common and respected American brand.
From Ted Nugent, made a celebrity on network television and in the Washington Post, today an expected advocate for shutting down the government forever, except for the military, police, prison guards and executioners:
“The 1970s Chrylser automobiles that wouldn’t run couldn’t hold a candle to the engineered obsolescence of Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, the laughable U.S. post office, the jackboot indecency of the EPA, the ESA (this isn’t even an agency, it’s the Endangered Species Act, law), OSHA, USFW, USDA, NPS, USFS, NEA, FDA, [the] BLM … Who the hell came up with the government providing school lunches, food stamps, cellphones, rent, fuel, wars on drugs, wars on poverty, mismanaging forests, running parks … Go ahead, do us all a huge favor, and put the brakes on the America that never should have been. I watch the $6 billion school lunch program to feed the starving children go straight into the dumpster and right out to the local landfill.”
Shorter: Die! Die! Everybody but the shut-‘er-downers die! Die two or three times, especially school lunches.

Plutocrat bankers, including Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs, met at the White House with the Prez, really worried about the GOP monsters they worked hard to set loose because of the guy who dared say a few cross words to them a few years ago:
“Blankfein and other bank CEOs said they told the president they agree the long-term consequences of a shutdown would grow ‘extremely adverse’ if the U.S. fails raise its borrowing capacity.”
Among them, Robert Benmosche, CEO of AIG, notably called out as a sociopath by Paul Krugman, on the opinion pages of the New York Times a week ago.

In honor of the despised minority who closed the US government because of their hatred for the President and the fair passage of law, a photo tribute collected from newspapers in the last few days.
Hector Heathcote rings his liberty bell a week or so before hundreds of thousands of tyrannical federal employees are sent home and the US government slowly grinds to a halt. Freedom at last.

Your cause has been the most noble in the land. “At the National Institutes of Health, nearly three-quarters of the staff was furloughed.” The same is happening to the Centers for Disease Control! Moochers whose jobs are just a symptom of bloated, out of control government.
Well done, men of WhiteManistan! In your tireless effort to preserve our freedoms and liberties, you made an older lady cry:

The pure milk of American patriotism, run out of southern California, fortunately.
A couple times a week I stand behind a woman, sometimes with a child or two, using a WIC (Women, Infants and Children supplemental food program) check at my supermarket.
A government shutdown stops them. And after about a week, unless states take local measures, there’s nothing in the pipeline.
Let’s give lots of thumbs-ups to the Tea Party/GOP for getting WIC moochers as collateral damage in effort to engineer a coup over health care and that guy in the White House they hate with every fiber of their being. Shutdown won’t get the food stamps program — drat, it may have to wait for default in mid-October — but it can still start clawing poor women and children tomorrow.

On Friday. one White House pr man compared the GOP to terrorists. The extremists immediately protested.
Later in the day, a second White House pr man called them extortionists.
Six figure explainer, pundit, and Maddow Show producer Steve Benen layed down the word, or was otherwise quoted in the Washington Post:
“As a rule, regardless of where one falls on the political divide, officials should resist the urge to compare their rivals to terrorists. I don’t care how radicalized congressional Republicans have become — they’re not al Qaeda. Period. Full stop.???
How many people will die or are dieing in slow motion because of the impositions and orders of the extremist party?
The differences between our jihadis and their’s are proximity to victim and choice of tools. How else would you describe a gang that’s pro-nationwide hunger and against healthcare for those who don’t have it?
It’s real easy to lecture on the rules of civil discourse when you’re a six or seven figure explainer. But being blunt and descriptive has appeal.
Provoke a Republican today, poke them in the eye with a linguistic pointed stick, try to make an ugly explosion, it’s what they want.
The extremist party is empowered when called terrorists by mortal enemies, which is everyone not Republican.
Since they’re authoritarian paranoids, it’s vindication. Rules of civil discourse are a club extremists find handy to beat you over the head with while they’re going Ted Nugent. Civil War 2 has been on for awhile, nothing will end it except complete ruin at the polls for one side or the other.
I have a grudging admiration for the filled-with-malice strategy of trying to engineer a coup against the elected President from the bottom even if it won’t work. If, on the odd chance that it does, they’ll have successfully changed the structure and working of the government.

Fired in WhiteManistan:
(AP) Gilberton Borough Council members said Thursday night they plan to fire Mark Kessler, nearly two months after voting to suspend the only full-time member of the town’s police force …
In January, Kessler drafted a resolution the borough adopted that calls for nullifying any federal, state or local regulations that infringe on the Second Amendment.
This leaves continuing to grow the militia, called the Constitution Security Force.
