Morning Gospel
“Herd the Sodomites into captivity and chastise them with pointed sticks and electricity.” For a short time only, every copy of the Compleat Sayings of American Jesus will come with a small replica of the future North Carolina State Barbed-Wire Homo Corral.

… because nothin’ says “Jesus Loves You!” like a good old-fashion lynchin’, it’s true, it’s true.
And here’s a swell page from the same site that was linked to from that article… a great illustration of trans-misogyny.
1) Rules for boys: “Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch.”
– Whup his ass, but good.
2) Rules for girls: “And when your daughter starts acting to Butch you reign her in. And you say, “Oh, no, sweetheart. You can play sports…. But…”
– Lecture her on the absolute necessity of being girlish… “sometimes”.
Personally, I guess I’d call #2 unpleasant, and #1 felony child abuse calling for – say – a year in jail (or maybe probation?) following a plea bargain down to a misdemeanor in the case of a first offense?
Actually, I’m pretty sure that “Pastor” Sean Harris’ sermon crosses over the line into outright advocacy of violent criminal conduct towards children, and is unlawful; I ain’t gonna hold my breath waiting for a indictment.
Right?
PS: I have no real problem with mild spanking of a young child in the case of severe, destructive or dangerous misbehavior: blows with the fist? That’s something entirely different, because it’s liable to cause serious physical harm to the child.
PPS: It was all… a joke! Right? “Harris said he ‘would never ever advocate’ hitting a child.”
Riiight. Maybe he’s got a lawyer in his congregation there, huh?
PPPS: From the same article:
“I would not dishonor the word ‘sermon’ by identifying it as such,” said Tony Cartledge, who teaches Old Testament at Campbell, a Baptist university in Harnett County.
He noted Berean Baptist appears to be an independent congregation.
“We must be careful not to assume that every Baptist, or even everyone who believes homosexual behavior to be sinful, would endorse Harris’ over-the-top promotion of beating gay tendencies out of their children,” Cartledge said via email. “At the same time, we have to state unequivocally that Harris’ position presents a distorted view of scripture that is completely out of keeping with the teachings of Jesus.”

I’m glad there was a man of the cloth to tell us that.

I suppose one good do a spoof song called “Crack that Wrist!” to Devo’s “Whip It!” but like all such things, it would die because the only group that does pass arounds in e-mail are the extreme right, which includes the fag punchers. The progressives would think it too rude or below them and the only people enthused would be some viewers of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
