Teacher, can I be excused now?

“It’s tempting to think of Phelps as superhuman or a freak of nature.” YEP. Full stop.

Practice being six foot four and twenty seven again now.

Have pity. No more Carly Rae Jepson either, for the love of God.

For all of you afraid to even post anonymously you’re sick of being told how lucky you are to be living in, witnessing the era of the giant physical fitness freaks. Oh, how it makes your life so much richer.

Phelps benefits unduly because there are so many similar swimming events. Consider, in contrast, the poor guy (talk about a freak of nature!) who throws the hammer. If he gets his gold, that’s it. No more competitions; you’ll not see him in the 100 meter sprint or the pole vault.

One medal every 4 years, tops.

For whatever reason, Mary Alice Miller from “Breakfast of Champions” comes to mind…

“Competitie Eater” Furious Pete has a somewhat unsettling passion for eating challenges, and inspired by the Olympic Games, he’s decided to match Michael Phelps’ legendary 12,000 calories per day intake — all in one sitting. Despite the massive pile of pizza, pasta, pancakes and things involving butter, Pete seems suspiciously unfazed by this unholy meal, so we have to wonder about possible creative editing, but it’s nevertheless impressive to see 12,000 calories in physical form ….

    The video is viral.

“Swimming superstar Michael Phelps once claimed he scoffed up to 12,000 calories a day” — ABC News

Clay Animation video of Phelps and 12,000 calorie diet …

Phelps on his alleged 12,000 k: “I never ate that much,” Phelps said. “It’s all a myth. I’ve never eaten that many calories. I wish. It’s just too much though. It would be impossible.”

A 750-millilitre bottle of olive oil in one minute.

Furious Pete has guzzled all of these, and more ….

If there was a button you could push to disappear people without a trace and you would never be punished or found out for it, would you push it?

Once a day? Once a week? Once a month? Till it broke?

If memory serves, the dietary intake of a typical Tour de France cyclist is somewhere in the vicinity of 6,000 Calories. But it’s pretty much all gone by the end of the day–most lose weight on the Tour.

But 12,000 Cal. would be, what, about 12 helpings of Olive Garden lasagne?

I dunno. I’m thinking distended stomach, severe cramps and a trip to the emergency room.
