Still haven’t come up with a replacement for the malfunctioning Akismet spam filter, so comments are still under moderation.
Suggestions compatible with WordPress welcome.

My Akismet still works (v2.5.7), but I also find “Bad Behavior” and “Stop Spammer Registrations Plugin” to be useful.
