Some of us don’t use Facebook, but do read you daily.

Okay, I’ll chime in. I don’t do Facebook…never have, never will. Too much suck as you pointed out. A tsunami of mediocrity and worse. For me, it’s not worth it to endure the noise level, among other things. Kinda why some old newsgroups went to private email, I suppose. It sure got easier to cull those who had nothing viable to contribute and cut the background noise level.

I totally understand your desire to abandon this “obsolete” and costly tech. The world has passed me by, with my blessing. There is a certain peace to be found in that level of acceptance, though I still struggle with it. As now…

It was about 18 years ago when I first found you on VIRUS-L on CompuServe, before the entire newsgroup on your college LISTSERV started slandering each other to death and it died on the vine. Time to dig out my copy of VCL and reminisce.

You have entertained me, enlightened me, and provoked critical thought.

    I’ll miss you.

I read everyday, i just read it through feedly usually, but if you need numbers I can click through. I mean anyone that has played 1914 like me needs support!

I still read this place regularly. I don’t have a Facebook account though.

I read your web-site pretty much everyday. I have a Facebook account with a pseudonym which I only created just because someone had no other way to communicate (too complicated to explain why).

I’d rather you keep posting. I need to keep reminding myself I’m not alone dealing with the madness that has enveloped the GOP.

Keep up the fight, I say!

DD, I also have no interest in FB, and I visit here every day. Thank you for the rational analysis of the perpetual ricin menace and imminent cyber terrorism that you provide here.

I have commented on my immense dislike for all those antisocial networks before and i will certainly never volunteer in vectorizing data for some corporation and/or agency while at the same time donating content.
I’ve read your posts for the better part of the last 10 years and will continue to do so until you stop providing them.

btw: I come here on workdays, hardly ever on weekends…

Well, this has been illuminating. It’s now obvious, to me anyway — if it wasn’t before (and sometimes I’m slow), that as far as the materials covered here go, there’s no overlap between Facebook users/presence and the public Internet page.

Facebook “readers”, in terms of the way I see them, virtually never access the public Internet on small sites like this. If they do, it’s only in a passing accidental manner. They do visit a few big sites, often through pass through on FB. They’re very influenced by perception of popularity which means, when I see their posts, unconnected people tend to post the exact same things that are trending from progressive news, or gawker-type places, etc. And they passively avoid stuff that’s not immediately recognizable.

And those who read here use the public Internet, never or hardly ever FB. Two very distinct sets, a polarity, there’s little or zero common ground. I’m not surprised by the realization nor would I expect anyone to change, it’s not the nature of things.

More later while I’m mulling things over.

I hardly ever do Facebook. I log in only when I receive an important message (usually from one of my kids) or have to update a page that I’m responsible for for a local organization.

I would counsel you not to allow yourself to be assimilated by the Zuckerborg. If you move there, you lose me. Putting aside how FB continually compromises its users, it has become so clunky as to be almost unnavigable.

You can get plugins that will automatically post your blog posts to FB and Twitter and similar “services.” I use one to pimp my blog.

Hmm, the last time I installed a new WordPress plug-in it smashed the blog, corrupted the sql database and took away the ‘pretty names’ URL option. I’ve no doubt plug-ins work for some, I’ve just never had any luck with widget addition. I even had to get rid of Akismet.

I have DD bookmarked and look for updates several times a week. I enjoyed the tales of a census worker. The B. Traven de nos jours.

I Don’t use facebook or twitter. I like to stop in here 3 or 4 times a week. I love the ricin rants.

Don’t have a facebook account either. I can’t remember how I found your blog initially, but I pop by regularly – I really enjoy your take on things.

I find your rational analysis of the threat from terrorism (or lack of a threat) to be refreshing, I also enjoy your writings on the plight of the working class.

Ok – You provoked me to comment, even though I do not really have anything to add … but here goes.

I have kept your blog(s) on my bookmark-list (which is my primary list of what to check out online) for a very long long time. I usually read your blog at least once a week – on the front page and until I find an article I remember having read before. You are a lone voice of sanity which I really enjoy reading.

By all means – If you want to cross post to FB (og Google+) – or… whatever – do it – But please keep the original postings here. And You never know when You may run into some sudden violation of accepted policies on these other commercial sites and gets banned…

Believe me, that idea crosses my mind from time to time, particularly with regards to YouTube (now Google+, by default) and FB.

TOR+Privoxy redirects your blog to 127.0.0.1 now, don’t know why. Perhaps that is a reason for the decrease.

Like above I read you at least once a week and TBH, you’re one of those writers I don’t always agree with but can’t set down.

Be a shame to lose you because we’re going to need people of your insight –
    REAL SOON.

How odd, seems like malicious mischief afoot, placement in a blacklist. Which has happened before although not recently until hearing of this.

Hmm. After years of being pushed further and further to the fringe, that would be an unexpected development.
