Just when things are darkest, two young men show us what to do — with BitCoin! I can’t get it out of my head!

Posted in Culture of Lickspittle, Fiat money fear and loathers at 11:00 am by George Smith

Hot and fresh from the pages of the Daily Lickspittle: The Ponzi Winklevoss twins are paying Richard Branson $250,000 or maybe half a million in BitCoin for a space tourism ride on Virgin Galactic.

From the iEthers:

Wire news: In a blog post, Tyler Winklevoss compared Branson’s space endeavor and bitcoin entrepreneurs to major historical figures who changed the way the world was perceived, like Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama and Nicolaus Copernicus.

It is in this vein that Cameron and I contemplate our tickets into space – as seed capital supporting a new technology that may forever change the way we travel, purchased with a new technology that may forever change the way we transact.

“Since their inceptions, Bitcoin and Virgin Galactic have been writing the next chapter in our history books. While one is ushering in a new era of post-currency, entirely ledger-based decentralized financial systems, the other is ringing in a new era of post-aircraft, sub-orbital spacecraft-based travel systems.”

And BitCoin altar boys at Reddit, the Internet’s front page, have collected $28000 in BitCoin for BitCoin Elvis in the San Fernando Valley.

Winkdex: $621.

    This is a good line:

Bitcoin is as a SCAM by design as I have voiced many times over several months in that even when a large percentage of people have their holdings stolen the price is stable enough to continue to entice new entrants into exchanging hard earned fiat currency for bitcoins via the ramblings of the clueless mainstream press

I suspect it’s possible to devise an algorithm to scan the blockchain, or exchanges and their reported trades, to try and get an idea as to whether or not a significant portion of the bitcoin hoarders are trying to stealthily and slowly unload their holdings onto others for US dollars.

He’s right about the mainstream press. The “Bitcoin beat” has been created and most of the work in it is pumped out by editors and reporters who are either stenographers, blow-jobbers or writers just thinking up crap to put down so the news sites benefit from the clickbait.

Like Bitcoin, it’s substantially detached from reality. However, that’s what has happened with all tech press. Invariably, early on, it detaches from reality and exists only as p.r., troll pieces, various types of clickbait, processes to just servant the subject or keep the beat going. The grand-daddy of the phenomenon is defense and national security reporting.

I like the part about Max K even better.

Way back in the olddddddddd days, when no one had heard of MK, he and his handler did a pretty good audiocast about markets, how they worked for real, and WTF was really going on behind the curtain. He had an audience of maybe 50 back in those days. At that time I thought he was a genius with ADD, but genuine.

Then, as he got famous, I noticed that the content of his show was increasingly written by his handler, The subtle change made him less of a ‘crusader’ for truth (his truth about markets show on Resonance FM London is still on) and more about self promotion and shilling – first with kooks like Shedlock, A Jones, and S Keen followed by the ceaseless promotion of b/coin and then finally ending up with Maxcoin which has likely been easily mined and the 1/3 or whatever fraction is just waiting to be distributed to suckers in exchange for making MK some more money.

Needless to say, my impression of him is now overwhelmingly negative. Not because he is trying to make a living, everyone is entitled to that in my estimation, but because he has shown himself to be an ex Shearson broker who is really just a scam artist who never was able to escape his past. I gave up on him a while back and I will wait until he is exposed as a phony and then I’ll start enjoying his site again..;)

This is kind of Alex Jones for people who went to a couple of years of grad school.
