Insignificant Republican politicians want new kingdom in SoCal
From the wire, apparently not a joke:
Thirteen mostly conservative California counties would break away to create a 51st state known as South California under a proposal by a local elected official.
Republican Jeff Stone has asked fellow members of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors to support a motion to bring together officials from the 13 counties to discuss the idea. A vote is scheduled for Tuesday.
Stone says California is too big to govern …
Stone’s version of South California would not include Los Angeles County. Instead, it would encompass coastal Orange and San Diego counties, and inland Fresno, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Riverside, San Bernardino and Tulare counties. It would have a part-time Legislature and no term limits.
And why would it not include Los Angeles County, boys and girls?
Because that’s where most of the people live — especially all those not-white people and others who vote Democratic and have made the GOP dogfood in California.
If you don’t like your state, start a secessionist movement.

How about selling them back to Mexico? Would that be against any law?

Everyone’s already dismissed this as a basic GOP time and money-wasting trick. What I didn’t know was that there have been a couple hundred group who, at various times, have wanted to partition California in the last century or so.
They want to make the Inland Empire into their own fiefdom, a poor one, at that. Since the value in California lies near the coast and they’d only have OC — which is changing rapidly, and San Diego — which is only GOP because of the military — the navy and the marines.

And the only reason California can’t be governed is Prop. 13 which made it necessary to have a super-majority for every piece of budget legislation.
The GOP is a solid minority in the state but still has enough presence in Sacramento to stop all attempts to increase revenues through taxations. That’s essentially paralyzed the government much like the filibuster has done with the Senate in DC.
So the underlying narrative is the GOP halts any government, even actively works to subvert employing a procedural rule. And occasionally comes up with these screwed-up Tea Party-esque things about forming a new state. For only white people rulers.

Visualize Secession.
Some of us already view DC as a foreign occupation.
Nothing wrong with secession, we’d incorporate the Constitution (and obey it, unlike Easterners)
but fund less wars. Less taxes, more tarriffs.
Pretty simple.
It happened to the USSR, it can happen here.
North American Spring.
